In this warm-up activity, we were instructed to draw different shapes in different colors with a light source, and to shade and highlight them according to it. Most of us chose to do spheres and cones, and I accidentally ended up doing all my cones of a similar color palette. We also had to add shadows underneath our shapes. :)
Colored Pencil Fruit or Veggie:
2/4/2021
Here, we used our colored pencil skills to draw a fruit or veggie from an image we chose. I chose a grapefruit (orange?) and kind of had to rush in order to get it in on time, so it also isn't my best work. I think it looks pretty alright though, the color balance of the warm reds, oranges, and yellows goes nicely with the greens of the leaf and stem and makes a nice contrast, so the whole drawing isn't just warm oranges. I rushed the most on the cut open fruit on the right, I could have properly done the fruit texture on the inside if I had the time. It would have been super tedious though!
Watercolor Value Scale and Form Shading:

Next, we practiced a bunch of different watercolor techniques in preparation for our first major project. We did eight techniques, (I did not have watercolor pencils to use at the time), shaded three 3-D figures, and three value scales of the three primary colors.

Final Painting:
2/15/2021
This was my piece for our final landscape watercolor painting. I mostly used the wet on dry method, with waiting for the painting to dry before adding on another layer. Sometimes I used wet-on-wet, for beter blending, a water/mossy effect, or even on accident. I am really impatient when it comes to art, especially painting, so watercolor is very difficult for me. I ended up making a lot of mistakes, like with the hippo, I started with too dark and potent of a color, so adding highlights and shadows was hard. Or when painting the moss in the background, sometimes I didn’t wait for it to dry completely, so I had to wipe up and redo some spots, and even now I’m not totallt satisfied. I think I could have done a lot better if I was more patient and had a little more experience with watercolor. It was prettu fun to do, even if I’m not happy with the result.
